The Best Practice with Teaching Assistants Award (BPTAA) is an exciting national award that we received first in 2018. We are very excited to announce that in June 2023 we were re-awarded and re-accredited with the updated award.

The award provides a practical resource to support school improvement, through best practice in leading the management and support of teaching assistants.

The core purposes that underpin the BPTAA are:

1. To recognise and celebrate the invaluable role of teaching assistants in supporting the teaching and learning and pastoral care of pupils.
2. To evaluate, monitor and support the leadership, management and work of teaching assistants in order to maximise pupil attainment, achievement and well-being of pupils.

Recent research suggests that the potential of teaching assistants to improve achievement and attainment of pupils is fully unlocked through strategic management of their work. Through completing the reaccreditation process for this award, our school seeks to ensure that every member of the school community feels valued, safe and secure, and every member can achieve their potential in all areas of school life.

We would like to inform you of our commitment to achieving the award and also ask for any feedback you may have about our wonderful teaching assistants, for example how they may have helped your child with a particular lesson or helped them on the playground.
